HIGH STREET HARMONY
HIGH STREET HARMONY
This is the first of a festival themed series created during my Virgin Hotel Edinburgh residency. Flyers and festival magazines were collected from around Edinburgh during the month of August and used within the the artwork itself. This mixed media artwork encompasses various materials in a layering technique where the flyers are partially sanded and worked over but there is always a visual nod to the previous lifespan of the flyers themselves which helps enhance the narrative. The piece is featuring the High Street which is generally the beating heart of the festival where all the hustle, bustle and energy is formed but the work is not just about the incredible architecture but the people in the City that make it so special so a perfect platform to add my paper-doll style cut outs, I feel these additions really bring the work to life.
This piece is framed in an up-cycled frame and painted in black chalk paint and is 71cm high by 58.5cm across.
