ICE CREAM AT THE THEATRE
ICE CREAM AT THE THEATRE
This Quirky Queue is created from one issue of Vogue magazine (June 2011). It is a very gradual unplanned process where all my favourite pieces are torn and cut from the magazine itself. The back drop pieces are chosen and collaged onto the canvas. This first layer is further worked on with acrylics, ink, lead and crayons to create a scene which slowly starts to evolve along with the mark making process. Once a scene is developed outfits are chosen and characters are created and placed in position. Once the narrative starts to happen I glue them into position and give them all all abstract head with a drizzle of nail polish. Then I dress them up further in real ‘paper-doll’ style with accessories cut from the Vogue. This particular surreal scene reminds me of a theatre stage with performers and a couple from the audience with ice cream at the fore front. This piece is varnish finished to ensure longevity.
